1432637 2017-04-03 13:43:00 Billy, when I finish work (half an hour) I will give you an absolute guide of setting up Orcon mail with Thunderbird (TB). If you don't use TB, I would suggest for this test to install it. I would also suggest turning off any antivirus, mail washers and firewalls, until we know mail is receiving and sending.

If still problems, I will show you how to check an SMTP server using Telnet to see if it gives clues as to why it won't send your mail.

When I get home, I will post it, I will also at the end just tell you what settings to use for Xtra and that you will just repeat those steps again but filling it out with xtra's settings.

1432638 2017-04-04 06:50:00 I have several email accounts, and also use Mailwasher. I now have my mail client (Agent) set to download mail from Gmail, which is set to handle all my other accounts. I can reply to mail from another account through Gmail, and it will place the other account address in the sender field, so the customer sees no sign that it is sent via Gmail. I have found that the Gmail spam filter is very accurate, at Mailwasher has become almost redundant. mzee (3324)
1432639 2017-04-05 02:59:00 Aside from Spark, I'm still having problems with Orcon not sending my outgoing business mail. I do want to continue to use Mailwasher, because (when everything is working) it lets me see what is waiting for me and I can check/read the contents without downloading. Every day I get the usual rubbish and I can check off most of it and delete it in less than a minute, which minimises my risks.

Kame/mzee: Thanks for the offers of assistance but I am struggling with health issues with Mrs T at present and I'm at just about full load. I simply can't trust myself not to cock it up (it was bad enough losing access to PF1) and I still don't know what my PF1 password was or how I got it back (albeit as a line of asterisks).

I have a folder that contains logons and passwords for every site I have ever wanted to use from time to time but of all sites, only PF1 lacks the password (go figure!). However, first things first I need reliable access to PF1, you don't realise how much you take it for granted until you can't access it, then the bottom of your world falls out! What I'd really like right now is a Moderator to PM me with my password so that I can have it tattooed across my forehead.

When my PF1 is reliably back on line, I can try again for my emails.

Cheers

1432640 2017-04-05 06:28:00 Considering your email is playing up, resetting your password may not be the best idea.

Your SMTP server (for sending mail) settings for orcon should be:

SMTP server: mail.orcon.net.nz
Port: 587
Security Type: STARTTLS
It requires sign in too using your Orcon username and password.

Basically for each different providers email account you have you want to also have seperate SMTP servers associated.

Xtra also have their own. What I think is happening is that you have been using Xtra's SMTP for both Xtra and Orcon. It can work as long as your internet is also Xtra. Now that you are having problems with Xtra it is having a snowball effect.

Try those SMTP settings for your Orcon mail, I think you also need to associate the SMTP to that account. You should find it in the incoming settings.
