If the HDMI device isn't present when the PC is booted or wakes from sleep/suspend then the PC doesn't detect the sound hardware at some crucial point. My NUC is connected via a pioneer receiver to a Samsung TV and if I don't turn it on last of the 3 then I get no sound, despite everything looking ok from windows even to the point of the level meter going up and down as if sound is happening. I've just learnt to power up in the right order which is no big deal but what is frustrating is when it goes to sleep the sound stops working until I reboot. Haven't tried unplugging and replugging the HDMI though, next time maybe. Could be an intel driver issue, maybe I should look into myself but I've just gotten used to it. |
