| 1431987 | 2017-02-17 21:01:00 | Hi all, I haven't posted for a while (hello to those who still remember me, and "Hi my name is Renmoo" for those who do not know me), but what brought me back to PF1 was a Google search result for a page that I had created 12 years ago (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz). I recently bought my own house and I am thinking of giving the carpet a clean first before moving in. At this stage, I am thinking of vacuuming first before using RugDoctor to scrub the carpet clean. Does anyone have a better suggestion? Thank you. |

Rug Doctor is perfectly fine if you want to DIY. Some of the pros I have had aren't that great. Some are, some aren't. We have used Rug Doctor, it's fine. Good idea, do it before the furniture is in. Best time to do it too, summer to dry it all out. We don't use it now mainly cause we're getting too decrepit to manage the heaving stuff around ourselves, but it's a great machine, buy the cleaner stuff too. You'll be amazed how much crap comes out even when they look fairly clean. Open all the doors and windows after to let it dry faster. |

| 1431991 | 2017-02-18 01:53:00 | If the previous owners had pets there may be flea eggs in the carpet as well, they hatch when they sense vibration and suddenly with no pets to feed on everyone gets bitten. So whatever cleaning you do, make it something that'll kill those while you're at it. This is from personal experience as well. Personally for all the time and effort I'd just pay someone to come steam clean it. |

They will do a much better, more thorough job, and in half the time. Their machines also handle the vacuuming side of things, and bring carpets up like new. They can also remove any stains at the same time. Get Jae to give you a free quote, and you can't go wrong. |
