| 1431593 | 2017-02-05 20:44:00 | Do you "celebrate" Waitangi Day or is it just another day off work? The weather is lovely, just the right sort of day to go to the beach. Meanwhile some are "celebrating" by protesting at Waitangi yet again. It's just what you would expect of that lot. Why does the media report the protests? They protested last year and the years before. No doubt they will protest next year. Most people don't care. They should just report the important news and Waitangi protests are not important. It's about time we discontinued Waitangi Day and had another day at another time called New Zealand Day. I'm certain there would be many more people prepared to celebrate the founding of New Zealand rather than having what has turned into a national protest day. |

I think most people are probably at the beach or doing some outdoor thing. Some may be shopping. Some (like us) doing stuff round the house. Or just relaxing and doing bugger all before work resumes again. |

The closest most people get to the Waitangi Day "celebrations" is watching the silly buggers demonstrating, on the TV News. |
