723566 2008-11-27 07:46:00 Hey my mate made me a dvd but when i tried to read it on my normal pc and it says it is a blank but i look on it physically and i can see the data the, same with all of my pcs.
But then i tries the families pc while it was free (which is not very often) and to my shock it worked showing me all of the information.
Why would this happen?
How can i try to read it on my other pcs?

723567 2008-11-27 07:50:00 I have the same problem with my burnt video DVDs from my HDD recorder - only one of my machines recognises it as a video DVD.

IMO the best thing to do is remove the drive from the one that can read the disc and swap it with your own one.

723569 2008-11-27 09:12:00 this is pretty common, Blank media for burning can be a little fickle.

If you dont want to change optical drives out between machines, I'd suggest copying the DVD contents on a USB flashdrive and playing/using the files from that. Flashdrives around 4gb (DVD size) are very cheap and common these days.
