When there is a sensitive matter like the name of suicide they do use cellphones, but plenty of other conversations are very interesting, and even amusing. One of the best for me was listening to five groups of police in the Porirua area methodically converge on two theives - it took nearly an hour but they got the buggers - with residents phoning descriptions, police dog used, etc. Then there was the time when 4 youths smashed in the windows of a parked car - they were too quick for the police to catch but I figured it was someone they knew who ratted on them so justice was served. ;) |

| 510472 | 2007-01-02 22:11:00 | I listened to this police conversation once where this women was at this persons place and was totally drunk, and refused to listen to anyone that she was to drunk to drive, so they rang the police, and they waited outside the place and got her when she started to drive. Yeah your right, I have a scanner, hardley ever listen to it any more infact would be bout 6 months since I turnt it on, but yeah I can't get the fire either. Anyone know the NZ Fire frequencies? | 510476 | 2007-10-22 08:18:00 | Scanners are a waste of time for police frequency now as the primary channel has secure speech. Its scrambled, unless you have a scrambler or secure speech unit and know the codes which change you are buggered. mig15 |
