| 510421 | 2007-01-01 00:51:00 | Sorry for the hijack of this thread :) Roger, Telecom seemed to think it could be done, went as far as to say that it would work if changed from smtp to smtpr mail servers etc... just couldn't tell me what to do from there. Note that we have own domain/e-mail addies and I also have a straight xtra personal e-mail addy, none of them work through Vodafone. As I said... it can be done, I have seen it done- which makes it even more frustrating :annoyed: |

| 510423 | 2007-01-02 02:05:00 | I used to be able to access my IHUG email on my Sony Ericsson T230 on the Vodafone network. This was the main reason I bought it. But I haven't been able to for some time now. | Arfur (11673) | ||

As I said... it can be done, I have seen it done- which makes it even more frustrating :annoyed: You use smtp for sending the email, and pop for receiving the email, so that is why it may not be working. When I try to connect with vodafone to my xtra address, via pop3@xtra.co.nz, it comes up with 'connection refused', which telecom told me was because I needed to connect through xtra to access their mailservers. It probably depends on who you speak to at telecom, as to what they tell you. However you also can't check your xtra email using ihug, slingshot, clear as your ISP, so it would make sense that they also don't allow vodafone as they are also a competitor. I use my vodafone to connect to my domain based email address with no problems, and send the email through vodafones smtp server. They have a help page somewhere on the vodafone website on how to set this up. |
