723261 2008-11-26 22:00:00 New one costs $167, however for that price you can get the next generation 9600GT which is around twice as fast.....if you only need the card for 2d applications and are not gaming then its ok.... SolMiester (139)
723262 2008-11-26 22:24:00 I am looking to get a card for <100$ to play some older games and maybe oblivion or the witcher ect zarx (13402)
723263 2008-11-26 22:27:00 what is the resolution of your monitor, that plays a big part in deciding what card to buy! SolMiester (139)
723264 2008-11-26 22:31:00 at the moment 1024x768 and doesn't look like I will be able to afford a new one for a while. zarx (13402)
723265 2008-11-26 22:41:00 hmm so an Sapphire ATI X1900 XT be appropriate? zarx (13402)

Even at that low resolution the 8600GT is going to struggle with Oblivion and The Witcher at highest detail, having both games and played them through. A secondary rig I have here has a 8600GT in it, and I can 100% safely say its not a gaming card.

Do yourself a HUGE favor and spend the extra on a 9600GT that can be picked up for around $170 if you shop around. $95 is a lot of money to spend on disappointment.
