724609 2008-12-01 06:54:00 Hi, Im doing a play production and need to add static or noise to some mp3 files to make them sound old, or as if there being played on a record player. How would I achieve this? Thanks in advance. Adamnz (12260)
724610 2008-12-01 10:10:00 I wanted a sound similar to that, so I just saved them as mp3s @ 96kbps... not *quite* what you're after, but might help :) Chilling_Silence (9)

724612 2008-12-01 19:53:00 What you can do, and it works I just tried it - Download Audacity (audacity.sourceforge.net/) - then got a wav of the clicking, old sound, found This one here (http:) make sure you get the right one Shown (www.imagef1.net.nz) - its free, no logins, signups etc, you can also get other wav's from various places depending on what you want.

Then following the simple instruction on Audacity forum mix the two together. What you will have to do is rerecord the wave first in an endless loop to the same length as the original music.

Mixing instructions from Audacity:
If you already have the music as a WAV file or an MP3 (or one of the other supported formats), you can import the music (see "Import Audio" in the "Project" menu). This will give you the music on a second track, where you can slide it left/right into the correct position, adjust the volume, and any other editing that you like.
When you "Export" as a WAV or MP3, the tracks will be mixed together.
