| 724591 | 2008-12-01 06:26:00 | Greetings folks, Need to plug these two cables together, Both are male and 4-pin. www.imagef1.net.nz Any idea on who would be able to change the plugs? or perhaps make an adaptor? Cable is used on a helmet camera. Willing to pay (obviously) I need this sorted, If anyone can recommend a trusted specialist I would appreciate it. |

| 724596 | 2008-12-01 08:27:00 | you could change it to almost anything. just a matter of working out what cable does what. power, ground, vid and possibly sound. getting good small water proof connectors would be a problem. do they have a female plug to the camera? if you can get a matching plug with leads then solder the other leads in ok, easy job. otherwise just cut and solder it permantly. what sort of pics do you get from that ? do you know what lens it has? |

| 724597 | 2008-12-01 08:51:00 | They use a Sony lens in the helmet mounted unit, Available in 380, 480, or 560 lines of resolution. Pretty sure its an off the shelf part, they then just build up the package around them. When i bought mine I got the highest resolution lens they had on offer, Though I don't know if that was the 560 or 480 as it was a few years ago. And i ran it through a JVC DV camera. Have recently purchased the components listed on their page to give me their full package,which is where I ran into the cable incompatibility. The extra cable I bought to reduce the amount of wires doesn't fit into my helmet lens. However if your just asking about the DVR camera at this link www.helmetcamera.com Then its size is a positive, But it feels junky/lightweight, Video footage is great but its default encoding is into a variant of WMV that can't be edited without first re-encoding the entire file, which kinda makes a mockery of the expected simplicity of recording straight to a memory card. Anyway, I still need to contact someone who can modify the cable for me. |

| 724598 | 2008-12-01 09:27:00 | sony makes the camera part, not necessarily the lens. by lens i mean the actual glass/plastic the camera looks through. they are usually changeable to give different viewing angles ie wide view or more narrow but zoomed up view. if you don't mind that connection/plugs being permanent (if it plugs into a camera it shouldn't be a problem) then any electronics/tv/whiteware repair place should be able to do that for you. just cut them off and solder them together. |

| 724599 | 2008-12-01 09:37:00 | I was under the impression that the lens itself was Sony (and yeah, I realise the lens is the glass piece on the end), Though I may have imagined it, or it may have been listed as such when I bought mine. There are a few vague specs on this page, and I also see they have a bunch of different lens for sale on their accessories page. www.helmetcamera.com I also have a fully self-contained helmet camera, Its pretty crap, cost around $300, Not that I paid for it, I got it off someone pretty upset about what they dropped 300 bucks on. |
