724554 2008-12-01 02:52:00 I have a PC that has a BSOD error with "Inconsistency detected in the PCI Bus driver's internal structure" . . . with a stop error of 0x000000A1 and the system just keeps rebooting over and over .

Have tried booting in safe mode but still displays error . Have removed all devices from the PCI slots, which was only a modem but still hasn't fixed it . Hard drive and RAM all OK after testing .

Have tried repairing windows the using the recovery console and the repairing of existing install but still no go . . . . .

Any ideas?

Cheers :groan:

724555 2008-12-01 02:55:00 Is it windows 2000 or XP??

If 2k, some patch for it can cause this BSOD

724556 2008-12-01 03:00:00 Sorry, should of mentioned it's Windows XP Home with SP2.... GR8Metal (14133)
724557 2008-12-01 03:12:00 I would try resetting the BIOS to defaults, if that doesnt work, flash the BIOS to lastest and load defaults....You will need to set boot order etc afterwards.... SolMiester (139)
724558 2008-12-01 19:18:00 Have flashed the BIOS to the latest & loaded defaults as suggested, however, system still displays the BSOD error.

Format and re-install of windows??

724559 2008-12-01 19:30:00 Can you boot to safe mode, uninstall chipset driver, reboot and re=install with latest drivers.....otherwise, could be hardware failure immanent. SolMiester (139)
724560 2008-12-01 19:39:00 It doesn't want to boot into safe mode either. Displays BSOD error then reboots straight away so unable to uninstall any drivers etc..... if I format and re-install, I'm guessing that this error will reappear again somewhere in the setup. You may be right, it could be a hardware problem! GR8Metal (14133)
724561 2008-12-01 20:16:00 Have you tried booting using " Last known good Configuration" sometimes that works.

You can always use some bootable CD like UBCD4Windows to run system restore back to before the problem started, as mentioned in the original post you said you ran the recovery console - was this from the Windows CD ?

724562 2008-12-01 20:31:00 Hi wainuitech,
Yep, tried Last known configuration which didn't make any difference. I used the recovery console from the windows CD. I will boot off my copy of UBCD and see if I can restore to earlier date. Will let you know how I get on. Cheers.
