| 724463 | 2008-11-30 20:59:00 | Over the last couple of days my pc has decided it wants to randomly reboot. Last night it rebooted at the log in screen and then when my wife was typing an email. When it reboots it makes a buzzing noise (like paper vibrating in the wind) for a couple of seconds. Sometimes it reboots ok, othertimes it hangs with the hdd light on and eventually says that windows didn't load properly and asks if I want open in safe mode, normal, last configuration. any ideas? It's a 1.4 athlon running XP and before the weekend was running ok thanks |

| 724465 | 2008-11-30 21:06:00 | First: 1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties. 2. Click the Advanced tab. 3. Under Startup and Recovery, click Settings to open the Startup and Recovery dialog box. 4. Clear the Automatically restart check box, and click OK the necessary number of times. See if you get a STOP error, if so post it here. Second: Take the side off your case and see if you can see where the noise is coming from - like the CPU fan for instance. If its not coming from a fan then do the last one: Third, what brand is your hard drive? You should go to the manufacturers site and download their drive diagnostic software and run a check on the drive. |
