Is it 9am-3pm like other high schools? And u don't have to stay at the boarding houses do u? my friends younger brother is thinking of going there. | lance4k (4644) | ||
| 513124 | 2007-01-06 02:23:00 | Have you or your friend e-mail / phone them & ask them this? As I think they might be able to give you / your friend a better answer then PressF1 members :) ;) | stu161204 (123) | ||
| 513125 | 2007-01-06 02:26:00 | Possibly because the college started up in July 2003, and they didn't want to lose income for the period from July to February?? Or, possibly, because many if not most of their students come from the northern hemisphere, where the summer holidays would be starting in July, and the first term would be in September, thus avoiding having two summer holidays in one year ? :) |

| 513126 | 2007-01-06 04:14:00 | Or because they solely teach the Interanational Baccualaureate (soory for the spelling) IB, they need to make sure that the exam timetable with the northern hemisphere is in sync. | beeswax34 (63) | ||

This would be the definitive answer :) The IB Diploma exams seem to be taken in May world wide: www.ibo.org Edit: hmmm, the other schools in NZ take the exams in November, but May seems to be the popular time elsewhere. |

| 513130 | 2007-01-08 12:48:00 | as above, the semester starts in sync with the rest of the northern hemisphere, and no you do not need to stay at a boarding house there. i applied when they first started but didn't get the scholarship so couldn't afford to go when they said i'd been accepted :( |

| 513131 | 2007-04-14 06:54:00 | aic starts in july because we take the may session IB exam. As most of the graduates aim for american and uk universities which all start around july, the graduates do not have to wait half a year... school strts from 8.30am - 3.30pm for pre-ib and 8.30am - 5pm for ib students. you dont have to stay at boarding house. unless ur younger brother is especially academic, do not urge him to go there. it is very academically challenging and ib students do not have social lives. :) |
