511314 2007-01-03 22:59:00 Simply because Im moving more than just my thumb / fingers :D

I have been known to tilt when turning corners in driving games

Makes for the fun of it really. I'm more of a graphics person myself but the Wii is good for having friends around no doubt.

I always thought of it as PSWii60

Anyway Sony's Playstation (at the time not released) almost made ends meet with the Nintendo SNES. Hours before it went ahead Nintendo said no.

Uh, No they don't, In Fact this is off their site-"Remember, these numbers are only estimates" And if you bother to track how often they change the figures up, down and sideways you will soon jump to the obvious conclusion, That site is worthless.

511319 2007-01-06 12:54:00 The PS3 is much more expensive but from a technical perspective it has a lot more going for it. It is also possible to install a Linux distribution on it very easily, turning it into a very high powered (if a little memory-poor) processing unit.

The cell processor is a truly amazing concept. For the technically minded, google "cell processor". For those who were gasping about the Xbox 360's 3 processor cores you should think about the PS3 Cell processor's 9 cores (1 master + 6 slaves + 1 redundant (failover) + 1 security core). From a programmer perspective the possibilities are fascinating.

The other major bonus is the hard drive. Since the Xbox 360 doesn't have a hard drive by default, game developers can't assume one will be present. PS3 developers can assume access to one, making a whole series of cool things possible. Take, for example, the ability to simulate complex social interactions between characters in a game. This is easily within the reach of the PS3, but on the Xbox 360 you simply couldn't save all that detail when the user turns it off. Even with compression, such a system could take several megabytes to record.

If I were planning on buying a games console, the PS3 would be my choice. As it happens I am a student and have no intention of spending that much money on gaming, but for me a hard drive would be on my necessities list so I would almost certainly try to save and scrounge for the PS3.
