725020 2008-12-03 17:52:00 All modern web browsers do a reasonable job, there is nothing wrong with IE 7 and this poll just indicates that members here are aware of alternatives.

World wide IE is still used on over 75% of computers.

On a PC I use IE mainly but also FF at times

On a Mac I use Safari mainly but also FF as well.

They all work well and do what a browser is required to do.
Safari (3993)
725021 2008-12-03 22:38:00 First of all, IE 7 is slow as hell. It also has no add-ons and just opening a new tab takes ages. It also doesn't render some pages very well. Did I mention it was slow?

IE DOES NOT work well.

Rubbish beeswax - it works fine otherwise the majority would not use it.
Most people are not interested in add-ons or using tabs.
There is very little difference with the speed of any of the modern browsers, talking about a few seconds difference here and who is really concerned about that.
Safari (3993)
725023 2008-12-03 23:12:00 I'm concerned. The faster the better. pcuser42 (130)
725024 2008-12-03 23:48:00 Why no Safari? It's the 3rd most popular browser! Nermal (7077)

725026 2008-12-04 01:27:00 +1 for Safari (The post #25 -- Not the browser) ;)
Speed differences are minimal these days, in fact as hard as it is to admit, IE loads faster than Firefox for me on a freshly installed XP, just formatted 4 hours ago... Chrome starts up the 2nd fastest..

In terms of page load times, its negligible to be honest.
It'd be like me trying to convince the masses to use Gentoo Linux because its all compiled from source and is super-fast! Sure its a *bit* faster if you REALLY had to look for it, but all up most people will never actually notice.

Maybe they are not but it is nice to have those options available for geeks like us who do use them . I really miss the customisations I have made on my Opera when I have to use other people's computers .

Remember, too, that people often don't really know how to use tabs and other features and therefore do not know how useful they are until shown, then they wonder how they got along without them in the past .

At the end of the day it doesn't matter what people use as long as they are happy with what they have chosen . And if you don't try something new then how do you know whether you might like it better or not?
