513802 2007-01-08 08:32:00 Guys, this is a serious matter. At stake right now is chocolate2006 son's future, and if the father is consulting our advice, that means he is really getting out of control. chocolate2006, I suggest you try checking out helplines like New Zealand Youthline (http://www.youthline.co.nz/) and see what they have got to say on gaming addiction. I also propose that you should have a parent-to-son session with him one day so that both of you can work out a solution to this.

Yours son needs to be aware of how hard is it for the parents to earn money. He needs to know that he can't just squander his time on gaming 12 hours a day without contributing to the family bowl. Can't find a job? There is a job search service for those (would-be) tertiary students in New Zealand -> http://www.sjs.co.nz/

Cheers and good luck :)

Great, well done, now change the password for your ISP logon so that he can't reconnect when he buys a new lead, or change the logon to the computer (or both).

"One swallow does not a summer make." It may take time to break the habit, job or no job.

Cheers

I was going to suggest, checking what router you have and putting some access hour in so he can only go online when you allows him.

Exactly, great idea I was thinking that too... ;) I know that the Linksys WAG54G can do that, not sure about what else can though... The_End_Of_Reality (334)

513809 2007-01-19 04:08:00 haha i heard some WoW addicts started a riot at a game store when they ran out of the "burning crusade" EP - its a shame a game can cause that sort of stuff (and all you adults think Grand Theft auto is bad :p ) MAC_H8ER (5897)

Only the ones who don't watch their kids and think they are little angels.
One problem with games like WOW and Runescape is that people then don't develop social skills.

Congratulations. Make sure he doesn't spend his first pay on a runescape subscription :p

One of my friends used to be addicted to runescape. No matter how far behind he got on various payments, he wouldn't give up whatever extra features paying for runescape gets you. Eventually he saw the light & doesn't play it anymore.
