724946 2008-12-02 07:59:00 Is there anyway? Like if updates are happening or something and also are there any settings to do on my wireless router to make it faster? Xypher (14353)
724947 2008-12-02 08:13:00 You could hack your router's firmware to get better speeds, put "satelites" around the antennas to increase distance and connectivity.

If you download stuff stuff using utorrent you could set up port forwarding, that would speed things up.

Updates for files are usually small, so should affect your internet apps unless your on dial-up

724949 2008-12-02 08:45:00 Disable the ones you suspect.
Things like file-sharing - because you may have uploading enabled.
Skyp when it decided you should be in supernode.
Malware - reporting back or whatever its doing.
And updates using your bandwidth.
Thats likely to be about it........

724950 2008-12-02 10:40:00 You could use QOS if your router supports it to give priority to apps that you use a lot or you want to allocate more bandwidth to. beeswax34 (63)

724953 2008-12-02 11:21:00 Heard of a manual? Should you have a router ? :D

If you dont know, dont touch

I think there's a help button in most routers?

It explains what the option means and does?
