724494 2008-12-01 02:21:00 I have just upgraded to Vista 64-Bit and found that my firewall (Zonealarm) does not work.

I can't use Comodo because it is incompatible with my NIC (ie it blocks all internet traffic!)

So what is a good (free) firewall for 64 bit Windows Vista?

TIA

724495 2008-12-01 02:56:00 There's a 64-bit specific version of Zonealarm in Beta here? ( . neowin . net/index . php?act=view&id=32315" target="_blank">www . neowin . net) (It's bloody old though . . . .)

And Kerio WinRoute ( . kerio . com/kwf_download . html" target="_blank">www . kerio . com) comes in x64

Not a lot for free though . . . . .

724496 2008-12-01 03:21:00 Do you really need a firewall, I dont run one at home as the router has a firewall and defender notifys me of any startup or program change.... SolMiester (139)
724497 2008-12-01 03:25:00 Yes - following on from Sol, you could just re-purpose an old P3 machine, with an extra NIC and install Smoothwall??

It's really easy to set up, and takes the load of running a firewall off your PC

724498 2008-12-01 03:27:00 The router firewall would probably be sufficient, unless someone's trying to hack into yoru PC Blam (54)

You could always use the one built into Vista. Works very well if you take the time to set it up. Blocks in and out.

Run wf.msc to access the rules.
