724246 2008-11-29 21:53:00 One Simple Question: Will Avast and Windows Firewall protect me? Can you give me any recommendations?

Thanks.

724248 2008-11-29 22:44:00 No.
Have antispyware in addition to the antivirus and firewall.

No. Dump that and get at least 2 of:

Spybot - this should be one of them
Malware Bytes
Spyware Terminator
Superantispyware

Use them at least once a week if not more.

724251 2008-12-02 04:01:00 pctek: 1. Should in enable TeaTimer in SS&D?
2. Should I get rid of Avast since Spyware terminator has got its own antivirus program?

What version of Windows? With WinXP I would recommend a third-party firewall but with Vista you might get away with the Vista one provided you keep your AV and anti-spyware progs up-to-date and give the PC a scan regularly.

724254 2008-12-02 05:29:00 You might want to use CCleaner to clean out temp files, they usually have nasties stuck in them Blam (54)

Never.
MS is always the worst with their apps.
