725785 2008-12-04 12:20:00 I "wasnt" really fond of laptops, but as i grew fond of my dell i have changed my views. I am currently wanting to buy a new laptop, but have no idea about prices or anything, so when i walked into a Electronic store i was like "WTF"? I am looking for a laptop good enough to play pc games (not arcade pac-man..), ram at least 2G, hdd i dont really mind, just looking if anyone has tried a brand+model and really likes it. thanks in advance chuanwai (12518)
725786 2008-12-04 17:27:00 personally I wouldn't buy a laptop for gaming. They are not designed for the demands gaming puts on the cpu and video card and if you did manage to get one that ran games reasonably well you would pay premium price at the counter beama (111)
725787 2008-12-04 17:29:00 Second that for games get a desktop also 2gb RAM on Vista would not be much if you wanted to run games as well, prices will be very high for a gaming laptop gary67 (56)
725788 2008-12-04 19:17:00 What games are you planning to play? Oldish games (e.g. SimCity 4) run fine with 2GB of RAM and Vista. pcuser42 (130)
725789 2008-12-04 19:21:00 I've seen a few gaming laptops with serious overheating problems. If you want to play the latest games, get a desktop. Greven (91)
725790 2008-12-04 20:48:00 Yea sim city 4 lol... i problably looking to play battlfield 2142 somethig like that? chuanwai (12518)
725791 2008-12-04 21:22:00 Ah, a laptop would play that fine, I wouldn't worry about it. Things have a come a long way, and mid range laptops usually have enough power in them to handle close to anything. I have a NVIDIA 8600 in mine, and I can play Bioshock sweet as :) mabix (10146)
725792 2008-12-04 21:24:00 Just don't have it on your lap when playing games. ;)

Our tablet can get really hot when my brother is playing games.

725793 2008-12-04 21:28:00 Agreed. especially if you are a man

Men who regularly balance their laptop computers on their laps when working may be jeopardizing their ability to have children, according to a new study from fertility researchers at the State University of New York at Stony Brook.

The potential risk comes from the heat generated by the laptop computer and the close position of one's thighs when balancing the computer on one's lap, the researchers found. This heat is transferred to the scrotum, where the temperature can rise several degrees, putting users within the danger zone for testicular dysfunction
