725421 2008-12-03 09:37:00 Hey all,

Just got myself my first decent graphics card since back in the day when the GeForce MX440 was "Good" ;)

Anyways, its nice to be able to run things like Assassins Creed and UT3.. but back to the point of this post.

Ive got a 512MB 9400GT, and my mate says he has a 512MB 8500GT... which one is likely to perform better? Or will they be relatively too close to notice?

Just curious, really :) I tried looking for sites, like on Toms, Im sure there used to be a huge long list of graphics cards and their performance ... Blowed if I can find it thou :(

The 85GT is budget, the 95GT is the next gen budget, the 94GT lower still...I guess you will get playable frame rates @ 1024x768, but only just....The extra 256Mb RAM on both cards is wasted as never have the power to generate textures big enough or quick enough to fill the memory....You should of gone for the 96GT or the 95GT at least!!

725424 2008-12-03 22:05:00 Found a review of HD4670, which also shows benchmarks of the 85 & 94GT's...

click me (www.techpowerup.com)

Edit...ouch...41FPS in UT3 @ 1024x768 NO AA & NO AF...:badpc:

725425 2008-12-03 22:24:00 Yup, its budget, but hey for <$100 Im not complaining :D

At least I can now run UT3 / Assassins Creed / CoD4, even though there's no AA / AF.

HD Movies though .. MMMmmm!! Transformers in 1080p! What a shame my monitor cant go high enough :p
