725316 2008-12-02 23:04:00 Hi

A couple of days ago I've downloaded "Diskeeper Lite". Now I'm not quite sure if there's not a "better" software out there as Diskeeper gives me the following (small!) problems:

a) Every time I start up Diskeeper the following message is displayed: "MMC has detected an error in a snap-in. It is recommended that you shut down and restart MMC." And then you are given 3 options. I googled around and found that other users have same problem and recommend to click on the third option which is, "Continue running and always ignore errors with this snap-in, regardless of user or session."

b) Just this morning I was informed through a pop-up that Diskeeper strongly recommends to defrag the hard disk now. This sounds very strange to me as I just did a defragmentation yesterday before turning of the computer and I was only 5 minutes on the computer this morning when the pop-up arrived.

Would somebody please calm me down in regards to the above or recommend me an other defragmentation tool.

Thanks for your help.

Try the workaround above

To work around this problem, follow these steps to open the WMI MMC snap-in:

1. Click Start, click Run, type mmc, and then click OK.
2. On the File menu, click Add/Remove Snap-in.
3. In the Add/Remove Snap-in dialog box, click Add.
4. In the Available standalone snap-ins list, select WMI Control, and then click OK.

725323 2008-12-03 00:48:00 Many thanks to everybody.

In the end I've decided to get rid of Diskeeper and give smartdefrag a try.
