515653 2007-01-14 02:32:00 Just more as a general overveiw of what people are doing in the puter lives . . . . . . . . i was wondering . :illogical i know . . . . . . . . . . . im bad for random posts .

What are you working on at home ( or work) that is going well, or not going at all? that you would be willing to share? or what are you building? fixing? replacing?
Why are you doing it? (if its work i can understand) but for a personal interest or a learning curve? a friend, etc

I am currently still editing a major amount of photos for a dvd slideshow . . . . . . for a heritage item of our family farm . personal reasons and really now . . . enjoying it . took a bit to get this far but i am enjoying it .

I also have 2 laptops (old) that i would like to have a tweak with and either fix or kill . . . . . . . . . lol most likely kill but its all learning .

so what are you building? fixing, making, or trying to generate?

ideas like making a new puter, networking, adding a server, fixing a puter, lappie or doing a web page, graphics or designing something else? a game youre trying to conquer? :p

please? anything pc related that currently needs your input . . . . . . . .

515654 2007-01-14 02:41:00 well, Lets see, This morning I popped into PJ's, dropped a Video card into one of their PC's and came up with a cunning plan to increase the ram. Then removed the near brand new 160GB hard drive that had seemly failed from PJ's personal comp.

And in regard to that, Its all good, can access all the files and will be reinstalling it later today.

Currently Im burning off a bunch of Iso's so I can free up some HD space so I can transfer yesterdays video taping on to PC, edit it a bit then burn to DVD.

Mrs Metla looks a little bit crook, probably from the lunch I cooked for us.

Metla Junior is alternating between saying my name over and over and over, grasping the PC steering wheel and asking for cars, and poking bits of fluff into my PC (which is laying on its side and...well, has no cover on it,)

515655 2007-01-14 02:48:00 I decided I wanted to learn about Server 2003, so I wiped Ubuntu off my second computer & installed server 2003. Learning how thing work by playing round with them is much more interesting than reading about them in a book :D

I'm also preparing to patch up the back bumper on my car - it looks like someone with a tow bar backed into it :(. It is very minor damage, so I can just sand it back, use a bit of filler if need be & paint over it.

515656 2007-01-14 02:55:00 I'm building a nice solid desk.
1x 27mm sheet of MDF coversheet (coversheet = cheap)
$8 worth of screws + bits
+ hours of labour and frustration.

Hopefully it'll be finished in a week or so.

515659 2007-01-14 03:00:00 Hmm... Me?

Well I am in the middle of setting up my own webserver, and local file server (as you have probably seen the thread :p) I have got it up and running to the point where the photo gallery is fully functional and I just need to create a website :p why am I doing this? because I have time on my hands seeing as I have finished school and are looking for a job in the IT industry and I also thought that this would be a good thing for me to do if I want to get into IT...

Also, I am building a PC for a teacher of mine (last year) and currently it is Prime 95 testing and heating up the room... (phew 27°C in here :horrified) Hmm... 24hrs Prime stressing the CPU them 24hrs running Memtest the stress the RAM and then again with another 24hrs of Prime to stress everything... I think that could be classed as stable given no errors...

Well that is about all that I am working on ATM...

515660 2007-01-14 03:01:00 Trying out a variety of demo games on my PDA iPAQ HX2490 to see which one takes my fancy. Just played "Syberia", about to start on "Riven - The Sequel to Myst" and that will be followed by "Atlantis Redux 1.4".

[edit]
Gosh, don't you hate "demos" which turn out just to be a video of some of the scenes?! Next!

515662 2007-01-14 03:06:00 Winmacguy cos of this thread.........

pressf1.pcworld.co.nz

and i am slowly getting there........... not done any for a few days, but 570 photos numbered and in coreect walking across the farm order.....

how i took the photos - in the order i took them..... had no relation on how i wanted to have the final product......

so if i had thought about it a bit more i would have done it different....... but i dont have a spare 1 to drive there and a spare 5 hours to retrudge round the farm to get in correct order. but we live and learn.
