I have just brought a sony rdr hx720 DvD Hdd recorder. Is their a funtion to skip ads I cant seem to see anything about that and would like to know how to do it.
Also so far am very dispointed not to have found a funtion that will allow me:help: to put groups of programmes in "files"ie kids shows, movies and etc.. I wait to hang off your every word??
Also seems to be quite noisy which is a pain causes it's in my room. Is that normal
Many thanks

515213 2007-01-12 07:42:00 Maybe the use of G-Code would help edit out the ads. They're exclusively in the TV Guide i think. Consult the manual.
Um, no my HDD/DVD rec doesnt save into folders either.. just a menu, which is quite adequate for me.
Again, consult your manual....What do you mean by noisy? Volume or hiss?

515214 2007-01-12 07:54:00 It's not just you....

I had a similar Sony I bought in March last year...and it skipped ad's brilliantly.

I no longer have that one, so last month bought the same model you did, assuming everything would be the same.

Gutted! It ain't

Big money on something that Sony had changed some features on, especially where you can bring up all the chapters and selectively delete the chapters with the ad's.

I am ropable, but admit it's my own fault.

Shouldn't be noisy though.....

515215 2007-01-12 08:44:00 In the middle of the night the fan starts up and the disc kind of makes serching noises looking for a disc or something. When the power is off?

I guess most people wouldn't notice it if it was in a main room?? But still seems strange.
Cheers

515217 2007-01-12 14:11:00 My unit seems extremly quiet. Ill post the ad skip method in the morning, as I'm away from the player atm.

My only issue is the faily slow start up time.

515219 2007-01-18 06:05:00 Go to the Sony site and have a look. I have recently bought a HX-820 and it said on their site it doesn't do it.
