514357 2007-01-09 23:19:00 What do people think of the new iPHONE.
The interface looks very nice, but I don't think that it is really an ipod replacement as it will only come with 4 and 8 GB storage and is quite pricey. It looks like it will only work with Vodafone.

514358 2007-01-09 23:46:00 Looks beautiful to me. The downside is that the memory is non-expandable. en.wikipedia.org

Cheers :)

Thats true, and also it doesn't appear to have a replaceable battery. Some people won't buy it for that reason, as people buy additional batteries, so they can go on the road and simply switch over the battery if it goes flat.

I assume that they will continue to make normal ipods, and it will have the same touch screen, but the screen will fill the entire surace area of one side and it won't have the speaker and microphone on it.

514360 2007-01-10 00:06:00 I'm still a little bit undecided on the design. Mot quite sure if it is what I was expecting. The on screen buttons are the same as the Widget buttons on Tiger which are very easy to use and self explanitory in thei appearance which is typical of Apple. It is NOT an iPod repacment. It will be a matter of having a play with it and pushing the buttons. I think once you get into it and realise it is simple to use and navigate the user will see the benefits. In terms of expandable memory features and such, this is only the first version I would imagine that in 12 months or so when they release the next updated version there will be some design and interface "tweaks" for the bits that Steve decides that he thinks should be changed.

Apple would be stupid to stop making iPods. iPods just play music+videos.

514361 2007-01-10 01:09:00 it has no 3G. so you have to use the slow slow gsm and edge. we only have gsm in nz. we don't have edge. you to use the high speed services you'll have to use a wi-fi hotspot which sux. i would have liked 3g support at least.

and how to do connect the iphone to your pc? does it have a usb connector?

Wait for the services to be updated and see what happens in 6-12 months or so. So far it doesn't look like it is going to be available here just yet since it is not showing up on Apple.com/nz web page. Apple US was updated just after the Keynote presentation finished to include the iPhone.

514364 2007-01-10 02:02:00 I think we will get soome quick upgrades coming through.
I've been putting the info as I find it here Apple IPhone (xmb.stuffucanuse.com). I think it looks really good. Just look at the stock for RIMM (Blackberry) and Palm drop.

It will make a heck of an impact on the cellphone market.

What's with the "I" in caps netchicken? It's "i" in lower case like iPod, iTunes etc. Otherwise great looking site with usefull info.

That's the way how some people describe a company via connotations, pretty much the same as why "Microsoft" has been short-formed to "M$" by some individuals.

I suppose I struck it right, netchicken? :D

Cheers :)
