In the main HJT window. Just tick the small boxes by each entry mentioned and then down the bottom of the window click on the fix checked button.

725146 2008-12-07 20:24:00 I've had Vista running for about 4 weeks. I have three SATA hard drives. A few days ago the second and third hard drives began a constant cycle of a short pulse of read activity for about half a second every 1.5 seconds. It starts shortly after the Vista desktop comes up and never stops. The disks won't power down as part of their power saving setting. This doesn't happen in Safe Mode.

What did you have prior to Vista? Are you running the same programs with Vista as with the previous OS?

Would it be sensible to do these one at a time?

I was running XP (on a different machine) and didn't have this problem. I do have different software from the old machine.

As I mentioned earlier, I am not alone with this problem.

You could do if you want too, but those items listed are not needed by your computer anyway. Myself I would delete them all at once.

725150 2008-12-08 01:23:00 What result should I expect to see? Will it stop things like Skype and Copernic from running on startup? sbowness (14287)
725151 2008-12-08 01:36:00 go to control panel, then click on change start-up programs, choose what you don't want to run at start up and your sweet. GameJunkie (72)

The problem is determining which of the startup programs (if any) are causing the problem. I've already switched off those programs that I definitely don't want running.

Motherboard doesn't have a case temp sensor.
