726388 2008-12-07 07:39:00 Hi everyone

I downloaded browseui.zip from dll-files.com. Is this website ok? How do I replace browseui.dll in system32 with this one? Will this file fix my prob? (There is no "address bar" option in the taskbar)

Thanks

726389 2008-12-07 07:50:00 Downloading dll file off websites is usually a bad idea...

1) DLLs from DLL Download Sites are Often Outdated

2) Installing a Single DLL File is often a small fix for a larger problem

3) DLL Download Sites are Not Approved Sources for DLL Files

I suggest you instead get the file off an XP CD.

Are there any errors?

BTW is this XP SP3?
As M$ removed it in SP3.
To solve the problem all you need to do is get the browseui.dll from a pre SP3 XP CD and copy and replace it into your System32 directory

726390 2008-12-07 07:54:00 You may have to register the file??

That may fix it

Does that file exist on the hdd now?

726391 2008-12-07 08:05:00 Speedy: I can't find browseui.dll on my WinXP SP3 Disk, only BROWSEUI.DL_
How do you register the file?
Should I try replacing it anyway? How do I replace it?

726392 2008-12-07 08:13:00 It needs to be expanded from the cd, its probably an old version

By the looks of it, its upto 6.0.2900.5512

You need to copy that dl_ file to a folder on the hdd (off the cd).

Create a folder in C, and call it test

Then open a command prompt

So you type

cd c:\test

Then type:

Expand BROWSEUI.DL_ C:\windows\system32\browseui.dll

726397 2008-12-07 09:31:00 wainuitech: The intructions was useless. Same with yours speedy Well considering you asked how to repair Browseui.dll - and both reply's did that - did you use a SP3 XP CD or SP2 - the two are different.

Edited: just downloaded that Zip File - all it is was the SP2 browseui.ll file extracted from a XP SP2 CD, with a batch file telling it to install it and anther batch file to put the old one back ( I looked at the batch file commands) - the exact same thing as if it was done manually - or as per the two posted instructions.
