517169 2007-01-18 04:39:00 Had a guy ring with spyware infections, including Spy Sheriff.
Told him $50, including education on use of stuff, a firewall as he is about to go to Woosh, the usual anti-spywares, a list of good progs as he also asked about pay ones, etc.
He was happy with that.

Then his wife rings back and says, she has decided to take it back to Smith City instead as its still under warranty.

I did tell her software problems aren't covered under warranty, they'll likely just use the Restore CDs/Partiton anywya, losing her data and charge her anyway and not leave her with anything other than the stuff it orginally had in the first place which was Norrtons AV only.

sigh..............

people aren't doing that so much anymore now that the cheap computers aren't much better than their old computers.

Well some just keep getting theirs fixed and others "switch" since sometimes getting a different OS can make all the difference.

I take it your not able to suggest one for the customer? Since as long as they are not gamers, a Mac is the perfect solution for getting rid of the virus problem for ever.

antivirus.about.com

They didn't have viruses, they had spyware.
And ditching the O/S is NOT a solution. Education for starters is. They chose to have their O/S wiped and reinstalled instead. As bad as people who make helpful:groan: suggestions like buying macs etc.
