| 515997 | 2007-01-19 20:46:00 | I think by 10pm it would of almost been on the horizon or below it. Yes Dan's photo's show it about right apart from the movement of the camera. I would suggest Dan that you use a tripod so you don't get any camera movement and also try differant shutter speends up to 1/30 th of a second, any more than that you well pick up the movement of the earth. Will do so tonight. We are also getting a professional photographer (friend) up tonight, to take some photos :D |

| 516004 | 2007-01-21 15:42:00 | I saw it two nights ago, I just about crashed my car as I turned down a road and right in the middle of the sky was this rather huge comet..... almost did a "where's Bruce Willis and the drill crew?" rant, then remembered seeing it on the news... | rob_on_guitar (4196) | ||
| 516005 | 2007-01-21 19:30:00 | I think by 10pm it would of almost been on the horizon or below it . . . . brighter to you Steve is that you were in the country while we have to contend with city lights . And if it was the comet you saw it would of been on the south western horizon . Hi Trevor . It was definitely not on the horizon . . . or below it!!! If you stretch your arm out straight and do a thumbs up  the comet was above the thumb - yes, surprisingly high for that time of night . Sure, being in the country allowed the comet to appear brighter, in fact the head of the comet was sort of firey orange, so I can understand why some people thought it was a plane or satellite burning up . I have a tripod but my wife has the good digital camera (manual settings, we also have a Kodak but auto only) in London at the moment so when she returns on Wednesday I'll drive out on that rural road again . Will try to get a friend to come with me as his digcam has 10 or 12x zoom whereas mine is only 3x . |
