In my workshop I have three oldish pistols - two .177 and one .22 - and a rifle .22, all relics of the boys growing up but now never used. The rifle is a Webley and Scott, known at one time as a poachers rifle and its impact would certainly give you something to think about. Scouse (83)

517472 2007-01-20 03:24:00 i am thinking of getting an air gun.......And the pellets it shoots, how strong are they?
a true 800-900fps .177 cal airgun is just enough to shoot a possum with. faster ones are better. a good .22 cal air rifle is better for hunting.

how loud is the sound when you fire an air gun? over 1000fps will have ballistic crack as the bullet breaks the sound barrier. also high powered airrifles make quite a bit of noise. however some do come with built in suppressor.

airguns (including softair guns) are a resticted weapon, some are as powerfull as a full centrefire rifle.

most cheap airrifles have lousy triggers which makes it VERY hard to shoot accuractly. the high accuracy airrifles are powered by compressed air from a tank, however they are exspencive.

frankly its cheaper to go get your firearms licence and buy a rimfire rifle than it is to buy a decent quailty airrifle.
