Spend a bit of money and have a couple of driving lessons with a professional instructor - they'll tell you the "little things" which you usually don't notice you're doing wrong when driving. It's best that you don't hold a full licence until you are able to drive well enough to pass, under normal conditions.

517437 2007-01-19 02:14:00 Well I failed.

I went slightly (1-2k) over 50, looked in my mirrors at the wrong times, didn't indicate early enough, and cut a corner. Looks like I'm a worse driver than I thought.....
well i think if you had to ask the question in the first place the end result was obvious.
but I am sorry to hear it

With those qualifications, you can drive nuclear waste thru schoolyards and operate a tour bus with Oriental tourists going to Las Vegas .

Mirrors? Nobody here in Seizure World uses them .

Only a few mph over the limit? And you didn't get rear-ended by someone who wanted you to go faster?

Turn signals? They leave them in the position the vehicle turned while leaving the new car dealer's . . . and they blink until the bulb burns out or the driver does .

Cut a corner? Pedestrians have to get off the sidewalks here to be safe from people passing on the wrong side of the road to get around slow drivers .

All you can see in the driver's seat is blue hair and knuckles . Some drive with their white-tipped cane out the window trying to feel the dots on the lane markers .

Come to Hemet, California . . you'll be amongst friends of a feather .

517440 2007-01-19 04:52:00 One thing for next time is to remember to keep BOTH hands on the wheel as much as possible. They don't like it if you have one hand on the gear shift all the time.

Or on the licence tester's knee. :p

Did you do the defensive driving course, George? Down here the instructor takes each person for a practical one-hour drive for the last lesson which is a huge help for sorting out areas people need to improve on.

Otherwise I agree with Somebody. Take a couple of lessons with a reputable professional driving instructor as they should be able to advise the same.

517441 2007-01-19 05:34:00 lol fale. I don't understand why people would speed when they're sitting a test. Or cut corners. If you break any road rules at all when sitting your test, you fully deserve to fail. roddy_boy (4115)

Yep, and she said I would do great on the full test and couldn't fault my driving (there might have been one minor thing, I can't remember). That's why I was surprised there was so much wrong with my driving. I don't have the spare cash for driving instruction. I'll just work hard on it and try again in a few weeks.

I didn't speed deliberately, obviously. I slipped over 50. Nor did I even know I was cutting corners. He said it was just by a little bit, but still not good stuff.

517444 2007-01-19 06:33:00 Actually you would probably not have been speeding.

Most car speedos are set about 3 to 4 kM fast, I have proven this with my GPS in many different cars.

517445 2007-01-19 06:38:00 The instructors wherever you are must be more strict than down here, but when I took lessons before I went for my full, they stressed the importance of never going even 1 k over the speed limit. Greven (91)
