726433 2008-12-07 16:42:00 I plan on upgrading my desktop for gaming, i want to play games like oblivion, assassins creed and mass effect really well.

at them moment my pc is terrible, here are the specs

Dell Dimenson 3100
504G GB of RAM
Intel Pentium 4 CPU 2.80Ghz
Intergrated Chipset Graphic Card

(sorry i can't do dxdiag im on my laptop)
also the maxium RAM i can have is 2GB, will that be ok with a good graphics card?

is it possible to upgrade or do i have to get a new pc?

yours is very old indeed.

726435 2008-12-07 19:23:00 I'm with kersonan. Build your own PC though, you don't get the bloat that PC makers put on there and it's easily upgradeable later as they don't use special parts like Dell do. (I learnt the hard way.) pcuser42 (130)

726437 2008-12-07 19:51:00 Total waste of time.
You'd need:
Motherboard
CPU
RAM
Graphics
Power Supply

Which is almost all of it.

Never buy "brand" PCs for gaming.

726438 2008-12-07 20:18:00 I'm with kersonan. Build your own PC

Or, if you don't want to actually assemble it yourself, get a PC shop to put one together with the parts that you specify.

726439 2008-12-07 20:38:00 No way you need an upgrade with 504GB of RAM!!! beeswax34 (63)
726440 2008-12-07 20:39:00 But the CPU needs to catch up. ;)

:p

726442 2008-12-07 22:34:00 to get what you want , it is cheaper , as my fellow F1ers will agree, to build your own.

someone suggested a site, not sure who, ascent.co.nz maybe , that can build it for you, as it can be a daunting task for some.
