516975 2007-01-17 21:03:00 Does anyone have any experience with this (www.silverstonetek.com) case. just purchased. I like the way the mobo is held in separate compartment from the drives and psu.
I am so over my cramped midi case.

516976 2007-01-18 01:14:00 never seen it before but looks interesting. the wind tunnel for the cpu is interesting and imho a better way of doing it than side fan.

i take it the HD's are mounted just below the PSU ? if so they should get good cooling from the bottom PSU fan. however its still heavly reliant of PSU fan for case cooling :( would have been nice to have a rear fan right behind the HD's.

Yeah, thinking of putting an extra exhaust fan to the side of the HDD cage, as nothing there to hinder it, however only have 2 drives at present anyway.

Just a tad worried about getting the ATC power connectors all the way down to the bottom left (by front) from the top right!. May have to source extensions!.

I liked the Lian Li V1000 & the P180, however both are twice the price of this.

516979 2007-01-18 03:56:00 Looks vaguely like a Lian Li knock-off, or at least inspired by their concepts, only LL does it better.

Cheers

just check before you buy, i've had a few where the leads are extermly long which is handy unless you have small case !

do a little case modding a fit another fan in back. its more of case airflow issue than anything. also BLOCK the airvent at the back. being so close to the bottom exhuast fan it will suck hot air in.

Actually Billy, this does better in thermal benchmarking results and at half the cost.
LL are ALL alluminium, where this one only has alluminium front bezel, so vibrations noise is also better. Cant remember site where I got that info, however

Thermal Benchies (www.anandtech.com)
& Sound (www.anandtech.com)

As I said, only concerned with ATX power feed.

Any idea where I can get extensions?

Do you mean the one by the PCI slots?

Edit - found the LL reference (www.silentpcreview.com).....

516983 2007-01-18 04:49:00 yeah the grill by the pci slots. tho it depends on how strong the psu fan is.

the case is a little bit like my aopen case, the motherboard is the normal way around and the PSU and HD'd are swapped around with 2x80mm fans behind the drives. works quite well exspecially as some powersupplys bottom fan tends to blow warm air out of the front of the psu back into the case.
