515947 2007-01-14 20:04:00 Comet McNaught is in our skies at the moment and is the brightest comet seen for over 30 years, infact it can even be seen in broad daylight. Be careful though as it is very close to the sun. Put your fist on edge of sun and it should be about a fists width out. Haven't tried it here as it is a bit cloudy. See link below.

515949 2007-01-15 01:01:00 Drat. The sky's completely cloudless around the sun at the moment but I can't find the silly thing. :( Greg (193)
515950 2007-01-15 01:37:00 Of course you wont see it, Trevs reference is for the Northern Hemisphere. It should be visible in the WSW, evenings very shortly, we have hills obscuring to the west, so wont be able to see it yet without going to a better position.

515952 2007-01-15 02:23:00 Yes you should be able to see it in the day time whether you are in the Northern or Southern hemisphere. Makes no differance just look for on the opposite side of the sun to what they say for the Northern Hemisphere.
Why should it make any difference???

I'm surprised then you haven't yet noticed that the Earth is rather a dense body, difficult to see through.

I mean it is difficult to see the Pole Star from the southern hemisphere, or the Southern Cross from the northern hemisphere, no matter which direction you look in.

515956 2007-01-15 04:14:00 I was only joking by the way :), but this is an interesting site:

The comet is moving very rapidly, and the situation is changing day by day.
