2008-12-09 22:30:00 | My computer is slow to load games like crisis and call of duty world at war. Compared to a friends computer who has less ram, older graffics card Even when we run the same graffics settings. I get into the game and theres already a room full of people, even when im on my 4mb connection or my friends connection. Or on a private lan server it still loads slower than everyone. fresh install winxp home, service pack2 nod antiviris amd 6000cpu 4870 gigabite 512mb graffics 3x hard drives 320 WD 500WD 640 western digital with fresh install on. 4gig reaper ram 2x 2 gigs 800mhz Motherboard gigabyte gama770 rev1.0 standard bios bios says 800mhz for ram computer says 3.1gig processor Any help appreciated

2008-12-09 22:57:00 | So are we talking about the online aspect of these games, or the single-player mode where there is no internet connection involved? If it's online, then the problem more than likely lies in your connection, not your system. | qazwsxokmijn (102) | |

2008-12-09 23:28:00 | The VERY first thing i would do is run a Defrag, a machine with 20% fragmentation load times can be substantially slower than one with 1%. And yes a new PC with a fresh OS and newly installed games can be fairly fragmented. Start with the obvious before digging any deeper if you haven't already.

2008-12-10 01:16:00 | I thought I was being clever by installing the game on the 500gig drive and putting the paging file on the 320 gig drive and windows on the 640gig drive, with 3 sets of heads reading the ,game the windows and the paging file I thought it would be a rocket, I never thought of the amount of files on those drives and how fragmented they could be Cheers for the help ill try tonight on all three drives.

2008-12-10 01:34:00 | To above questions. The game was slow to load on lan, internet and single player when compared to my friends and other pcs at the lan. Also all drivers installed for mother board but the hd audio driver just wouldnt go ,it would install but then when it restarted it wasnt there, I went to gigabytes site got the latest driver but still no luck so I disabled hd audio in the device manager

2008-12-10 02:23:00 | My computer is slow to load games Compared to a friends computer who has less ram, older graffics card Probably the software then. Could be a mess with your drivers as you have already stated you haven't fixed the sound problem. And bloat, time for a fresh install of WIndows perhaps.

2008-12-10 02:33:00 | I have got a similar problem with my machine, (Dual Core E8400 @ 3.0GH, 4GB Ram dual channel, Nvidia Geforce 9600GT 512MB PIC-E), I can play Left 4 Dead smoothly but Call of Duty 4 lags even at lower settings, I am playing single player and not online. | ronyville (10611) | |
