2007-01-21 06:20:00 | Read this article and thought it deserved a mention...... Crime takes an enormous toll on our country. The cost alone is astranomical. Treasury estimates it to be around $9 billion annually. One criminal family - where 62 of the 67 family members have been arrested - has raked up over $20 million in judicial fees alone; and one professional burglar interviewed by the Herald admitted 1800 offences .But, the biggest concern is not the huge cost, but the debilitation caused by the fear of crime. And then this article......... “We love you son…be strong”. These were the words the family of a 15 year-old young man called out as he stood in the dock accused of murdering 77 year-old Doreen Reed in Auckland this week. How pathetic for the Judge to allow his Court to be treated with utter contempt by the family of this low-life. Imagine how the family of Doreen Reed would be feeling as they watched our criminal-friendly legal system slowly begin to grind them down and humiliate the memory of Doreen Reed, a 77 year old woman that would not harm a fly. This is just another sad reflection on our Courts and Judges that have not only allowed, but also in my opinion, encouraged, New Zealand ’s sad – but speedy – decline from one of the safest countries in the western world to now being one of the most violent. The 15 year-old man and his misguided family [a bit late to tell him they love after he has committed murder] are bi-products of a Nation that has lacked any decisive leadership for the last four decades.

2007-01-21 08:04:00 | Minors cant be charfed with a crime unless its murder or attemted murder, They know this, Thats why they dont give a ****. There are no repurcussions, and now the government wants to remove our ability to disipline our children in our homes. Welcome to NZ 2040, This country will be in flames. Back when I was a teen, I knew a whole swag of youngsters who went out breaking into houses every night and sold the goods for pocket money, They were caught dozens of times, Didn't give a rats arse, Most they ever got was a beating from the people whose houses they had ripped up. Then one by one, The very day they turned 18, They retired from crime. Second instance. A guy I know slit another guys neck (they were both 15) stabs him in the chest, He is grabbed by 2 others, He stabs one in the scrotum, Stabs the other to the face but luckily just grazes him. He then seeks out the guy whose throat he slit, Plunges one knife into his back, puncturing his lung, Plunges his other knife into the base of the guys neck, Misses his taget by a few inches, drives the knife in, then tears it along till it comes out the guys armpit. 3 months in a foster home, Then back to live with his parents. Anyone want to guess what hes upto nowadays?

So you actually believe that there is a 67 member family? 62 out of 67 arrested. May I ask how many were found guilty? Which family was this? Mafia maybe? Possibly a Whanau? Since when do you believe Treasury who can not predict income and this is why we have a fairly large surplus at this time. The main word here is "accused". He has not yet been found guilty as far as I know. I think you appear to consider the Police perfect and get it right every time. We know the Police do not get it right all the time. Having said that I think they do their best. hope you don't get on the jury as it appears to me that you have a preconceived opinion. Have you heard the evidence yet? I take it that you know for a fact that the 15 year old is guilty and therefore you may have been at the scene of the crime. If so, this possibly makes you an accessory. Also I take it that you must be over 50 as you mention the "last four decades" when it comes to Leadership. When I was 15 I knew everything. When I was older I was amazed at how much my Father had learned. |

2007-01-21 10:21:00 | Now did we have to delve to the depths of using words like scrotum? | pine-o-cleen (2955) | |
2007-01-21 10:29:00 | Heh?, after reading that you get upset over the word scrotum? listed in the dictionary as "the pouch of skin that contains the testes", How would you have like it listed so as not to offend? Ball?, nuts?, sacks? Or nothing at all?, He was stabbed in the vacant spot between his legs?..... Would you like to hear how he screamed as blood and urine pumped out of his wound?
