Well if we work it out like this:
Orcon+ ADSL2 5GB incl Landline = $79.95
vs
Telecom Home Phone $44.95
Xnet River (128kup & FS down) 5GB $39.07

Well I did the sums and cancelled the move.
Business is different.
I already have landline with Orcon here - $61.76.
To add 5GB broadband is $59.95. Instead of $39.07.

So nah, I just changed the email arrangement to totally use my domain rather than a forward.
And seeing as I only use Xnet during business hours the nightime slow thing doesn't affect me.

Besides everyone has outages - Telstra had one in AUckland yesterday apparently.

727112 2008-12-16 21:35:00 You can still sign up for a residential account, even if you're a business though .. ? Chilling_Silence (9)

Nope.
They tried that when I first got the phone, it rejected it.

727114 2008-12-17 00:05:00 In Palmerston North, I have spent the last 14 minutes on webmail trying to retrieve one simple text email. Took 10 minutes just to logon. Not good enough! Lizard (2409)

I am pretty sure that telecom altered their plans so that their business plans were the same price as the residential plans, after they got a lot of flak. Disappointing that other ISPs are continuing to price gouge business customers by charging more, as effectively the business customers are subsidising the residential customers.

Exactly the same here in Rotorua.

The reason they got so popular was because everyone saw the chance to get more for less and there were endless posts here saying go to Xnet.
Sometimes you get what you pay for.
