727093 2008-12-16 03:30:00 I swear they don't have any engineers but just monkeys who randomly connect wires and hope it all works. Look at their outage log:

Update - this problem did appear to be resolved at 12:45pm but has resurfaced at 1:45pm. Operations are working to resolve the issue.

727094 2008-12-16 03:58:00 And I just priced 10 gig at Orcon, what I get from Xnet, and it is over $100. Nah, not going to happen, guess I better get used to outages. Just read it properly, that is with phone line, but still is more expensive than what Ipay supergran (108)
727095 2008-12-16 04:20:00 Yeah we went down too ... right in the middle of me upgrading some forum permissions (not this forum). PITA for sure!

Well if we work it out like this:
Orcon+ ADSL2 5GB incl Landline = $79.95
vs
Telecom Home Phone $44.95
Xnet River (128kup & FS down) 5GB $39.07

Both are $1 per-GB additional ...
I think I needa switch, brb

727096 2008-12-16 07:21:00 Well, right now I'm pretty satisfied with Xtra after all. We have a few outages, but not as many as Xnet by the sounds of it.

20GB a month for $59.99 and I managed to use about 45GB without getting capped last month. Using Free Download Manager really sorted out my problem with slow and inconsistent download speeds too.

727097 2008-12-16 07:33:00 Came back on here about 7 o'clock. But I still can't get into my e-mail.
And web mail just locks up..

As I said earlier. Where to now? Is Orcon any better?

I've got an adsl2 modem wonder it their lines will ever reach Rotorua

727098 2008-12-16 08:01:00 Been fine in Welly for day time.
I have noticed on a weekday night past 12am that I cannot get emails or web access. Could be my router time out but I doubt it ......

727099 2008-12-16 08:06:00 The mail issue is on their site

From yesterday

We are currently experiencing an ongoing issue with our POP3, IMAP and Webmail servers. Users may experience intermittent slowness and loss of connectivity.

We are working towards a permanent resolution for these problems.

Does anything work there? :p

They used to post on these forums, as well as geekzone. Perhaps the people who used to post, have left the company, or they have cut their staff. At least with Vodafone, one of their top people participate with the little people on the forums. This makes good marketing sense, and shows you are in touch with your customers. Unlike Xnet, who don't communicate why they are having these problems.
