727082 2008-12-16 01:06:00 Yeah no contract here .. and Orcon have no contract when you sign up too, awesome! No disconnection fee? Even better! Its risk-free trial ...

We just went offline yet AGAIN! Xnet.co.nz website down, yet again!

I rang them and harassed them, they basically said "Because you're a home user, we dont care, deal with it or take a hike".
Bastards!

Their VFX quality / service lately has been quite bad too .. and when you call the helpdesk you can *soo* tell its g729 :p

I know, I just called them to ask about the refunds that we'll be getting for all the downtime that we've been having (1.8% over the last week by their admission. Appalling) and they said because you're a residential customer, our services are un-guaranteed. I will never speak badly of Woosh ever again.

I thought you were with Xnet already BW??

Well at least if I do move to another ISP, I wont be paying Xnet anything :p

We only moved about 1-2 weeks ago Speedy. Talk about a bad decision

Thats rubbish, residential customers are covered by the consumer gurantees act, so you would have more right to a refund, not less.

I too am wanting to move from xnet, due to bad peak time speeds, and now becuase it has been unreliable. That is the reason I switched from Slingshot.. However I am not able to find another ISP that compares in terms of price and flexibility of plans. I am considering Telecom, as they offer ADSL 2+, where XNet is only ADSL, but there plans are not flexible and they require a contract and will charge you if you break the contract.

727084 2008-12-16 01:43:00 Well true Xnet is ADSL.

BUT, that depends on the plan. The river plan is ADSL only. Some of the others are ADSL2 tho.

If I changed plans I wouldnt be paying, since I joined BEFORE this charge came in. Too bad if they want me to pay, I wont be

Thats stange, the River plan is advertised as FLS down, and they other plan FLood, is also advertised as FLS down, so I would expect that they would be the same speed down . There is no mention of ADSL2+ on their website . I did email them a while ago about ADSL 2+ but never got a reply .

I too joined xnet before they brought in that charge . However if I moved to telecom, and found them to be rubbish, and wanted to change ISP again, I would then have to pay $200 fee . I may wait for Wellington to become unbundled, which should bring in some better packages .

727086 2008-12-16 01:56:00 I sent Xnet an email a while ago, they replied saying the river plan is ADSL only (the exchange or whatever for it) .

Even if youre using an ADSL2+ modem, on the river plan it wont be ADSL2+ speeds .

However, the flood and the torrent plan are ADSL 2+

The diff between flood and river, would be the upload speed 128k / FLS

Not the download speed

Having read that I rang to ask the same question .
Being a BUSINESS customer of theirs .
They told me it would take a week to get a response on what, if any, compensation I get .
They all wanted me to talk to techs first .
I said I'm not interested in discussing the faults, the email fault is still ongoing and no ETA is possible so all I want to know is what compensation I can expect .
A week to tell me . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Hah .

727088 2008-12-16 03:07:00 Orcon is looking prettier and prettier by the minute ...
Not quite as flexible plans, but their Orcon+ network really rocks!
Chilling_Silence (9)
727089 2008-12-16 03:09:00 Moved.
Orcon.
Quite funny really.
I have business landline with them - and calling with Xnet, which can stay.........
Now broadband with Orcon.
And I have a child account with broadband, calling and landline with Orcon.
Makes it nice and confusing.......

None of which is my home arrangement.
Thats with another lot altogether........
