727121 2008-12-17 05:42:00 The reason they got so popular was because everyone saw the chance to get more for less and there were endless posts here saying go to Xnet.
Sometimes you get what you pay for.

Things got worse, where that torrent plan came in

Its got nothing to do with what you said

727122 2008-12-17 09:21:00 Yeah unfortunately that was when I jumped on-board ...

I know a few long-term customers who've told me they had more and more issues from the time that new plan came in and they just attracted all the high-bandwidth users. Quality appears to have gone out the window :(

727123 2008-12-17 18:27:00 e-mail is working again. Wading through 67 posts.

But how long will it last?

727124 2008-12-17 18:32:00 Go to Actrix. The only slow down I get is from about 3pm to about 6/8pm most week days when the school kids get home. I would say this is a national thing. Not talking politics here.

727125 2008-12-17 18:43:00 Havent had any issues with xnet yet. The outage was explained straight away.
Normally its telecom tinkering on their lines that causes most issues.

727126 2008-12-20 21:28:00 Not again... :(

Been down since 10:10 today...

Xnet.co.nz down too!

Surely after all these issues they would have been smart enough to host their website with an external provider such as in another data center that way when their OWN connection fails, their website is still up informing customers of the latest outage status!

Morons :(

727128 2008-12-20 21:45:00 Unfortunately due to the living arrangements here, its not always *that* easy to jump ship and change providers :(

That said, there comes a time when enough is simply enough.

I know its definitely an Xnet issue because I go on my iPhone via 3G to their website and its down, but all other web pages work.
I can see in my Router that its got a connection to the exchange, just no IP or anything.

Absolutely horrible, this is worse than Ihug was at the start of the year :(

Just came back at 10:40, so only down for half an hour .. but man its a pain!

It is also expensive to change provider if you have a contract, as they will make you pay a disconnection fee. Essentially they are making you pay for their bad service, if you change provider. It is a kind of a no lose situation for Xnet, becuase even if they lose a customer, they get a payout from it, so there is no incentive to provide a good service. Perhaps the commerce commision could look into these disconnection fees, as I think they are anticompetitive.

You are talking rubbish robbyp
The connection fee of $99 as charged by Telecom to connect the phone line to broadband is paid by the ISP initially
If you disconnect before your contract time you get charged that fee.

The ISP is not making anything out of it, it just means they get their maney back if you disconnect early.
