727987 2008-12-12 00:52:00 Hi All,

My brother is looking to change ISP's from Ihug/Vodaphone to Telecom, and was wondering if he has to notify Vodafone, or do Telecom take care of that side of things?

727988 2008-12-12 00:59:00 He would be wise to write to Vodafone and advise them that he is changing ISPs and when regardless of what Telecom says. That helps to avoid any confusion and double billing problems down the track. It is a lot easier to ensure they know what is happening now than to try and sort it out later. CliveM (6007)

Yes, you have to contact the company you have the existing contract with to cancel it, otherwise legally they can continue to bill you.

727990 2008-12-12 02:51:00 When I changed back to Actrix from Slingshot just over a year ago Actrix did all that for me. In the on screen application it came up with a list of all NZ ISPs and you selected the one you were shifting from and Actrix did the rest.

727991 2008-12-12 03:28:00 It is usually in the Terms and Conditions of your contract that you notify them when the contract is to be ended. Not doing so can result in continuing charges, as previously mentioned. FoxyMX (5)

x2 or they will keep on billing and you'll have a battle to get that money back.

Very risky with slingshot, as they could continue to charge you if you don't notify them. It's all in their terms that you must contact them to cancel an account.
