2008-12-11 00:05:00 | My computers specs are: Amd athlon 64 3800+ 1.25 gb ram 8600gt 160gb sata 300w psu I have $150 to spend on my computer before christmas (buying presents). What should I upgrade? I was thinking of a dual core since my single core is getting old. What do you think? Thanks ;)

2008-12-11 00:07:00 | What's the motherboard? What's the brand and rating of the PSU? If the PSU could handle it something like a 5000+ X2 or 5200+ X2 along with another gig of ram would be good.

2008-12-11 03:18:00 | Not harsh............realistic. AMD doesn't cut it for gaming anymore. Which means a major upgrade,. If you upgrade the garphics you'll also have to upgrade the PSU. see?

And while you're at it you might as well get some more RAM. You might be able to keep the case. Maybe the DVD (if it's not a CD player) will be fine. Don't call it a new computer, just call it vigourously reconditioned. It hurts less that way. |

2008-12-11 11:07:00 | Ive even had to bite the bullet and upgrade, I had a similar spec'd PC myself and its easier to just hold off a little until after Christmas (Yes, the latest and greatest games you get for Christmas might not run at 100% right away), but with the prices coming down ... See something like this isnt too bad in terms of bang-for-buck!: qmb.co.nz
