727465 2008-12-10 20:05:00 I have just bought a 22" monitor and the native resolution of 1680x1050 is not listed in my display settings. There are higher resolution but not the one I want. I read in another Forum about setting Custom Resolutions for these NVidia graphics cards and ask if anyone can tell me how to do this. I have activated the NVidia Desktop Manager and cannot find where to make a custom resolution. Can any one help? MalcolmD (14397)
727466 2008-12-10 20:51:00 Have you installed the drivers for the monitor? Generally the videocard will pick up the native resolution (1680x1050) after that. autechre (266)
727467 2008-12-10 21:16:00 Your card may not be capable of reaching that resolution- just this week put in a Viewsonic 22" Wides Screen on my own PC here, the native resolution is1680x1050 - even with the Viewsonic Drivers the highest the resolution will go is 1600x900 - and I have a FX5200 card as well. wainuitech (129)

727469 2008-12-10 22:31:00 Yes, I have loaded the driver for the monitor and it is recognised. It did not add the native resolution of 1680 x 1050. My 5200 card does go up to 2048 x 1536 and I can set this resolution but of course I have to scroll all over the monitor.
I read a thread on a US Forum where they discussed setting up a custom resolution of 1680 x 1050 and it worked for them. I wanted to know how to do this on my NVidia card.

727470 2008-12-10 23:20:00 The NV FX go is quite old and probably not capable of NON std resolution of 16:9...

In order to create a custom res, you need the full driver software install, NOT MS WQHL driver.....Laptop drivers are not often updated, and you cant get Go drivers from NV, so go to manufacturers web site, get latest....in advanced options once installed, depending on version you should be able to create resolution from there....

727471 2008-12-11 00:07:00 Thank SolMiester, I will give it a go. According to this US forum a couple of people with Go5200 cards have set up 1680 x1050 as a custom resolution and it works. MalcolmD (14397)
