519893 2007-01-28 01:19:00 That's the bad news which will upset the fans of Thomas01 - both of them.
There have been some technical problems and so I have re-registered as Tom10 which I hope will assist.
It would be appreciated if you could make some comment which would help me test this change.
For some unknown reason I was getting NO notifications of thread updates from World Forum.

519894 2007-01-28 01:22:00 Hi Tom! Glad to have you here again. R.M. (561)
519895 2007-01-28 01:25:00 Strange. Did you check your ISP spam settings to make sure the email notifications weren't being trashed? Jen (38)
519896 2007-01-28 02:02:00 No follow up from Tom10/Thomas01 yet. Does this mean still no email notifications ... Jen (38)

Correct Jen
I have received no notifications for either Thomas01 or Tom 10. I got in touch with Slingshot who reckoned it was not their fault but suggested I get another server for my emails (I mean what the heck do they think I am paying for!)
I tried to send Slingshot an email with the difficulties and steps taken all laid out but found it virtually impossible to get an email to them. So I have resorted to snail mail.
I reckon the telephone operators have enough to do with day to day problems.
Still hoping.

519899 2007-01-28 03:15:00 Hey Thomas

Have you tried changing your email address to a non slingshot one

something like a gmail one as that way it won't go through your isps spam filters and gmail can be accessed by your email software

519900 2007-01-28 03:53:00 Well, you certainly have a knack for eye-grabbing headlines, Thomas/Tom.
Glad to see your departure isn't actually permanent & hope you get a solution soon.
I suggest following Nigel's advice about gmail - for the time being at least.

519901 2007-01-28 20:05:00 I suggest following Nigel's advice about gmail - for the time being at least.

Yes I have - and now am more puzzled than ever. I mean just what does gmail do - I can understand that I have to notify PCWorld about the change of address but how do I get access to the emails. I get the feeling that I have to actually go to gmail and get them off.
Now that is even more effort I don't want. I can go to PCWorld using my existing system and just search for any of my threads for the past week -
that seems the easiest way.
I have never tried gmail or similar systems so I am very green - advice wanted.
I am also waiting for a reply from SLINGSHOT to my snail mail.

I look back to the good old days when I was on one program that handled everything - forgotten what it was called now but it was at one time the most used program.

519902 2007-01-28 20:14:00 You don't have to notify PC World of the change of email address, you just change it yourself under your UserCP details here (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz).

Gmail is a web-based email system. You normally log into the website so that you can read your emails. However, Gmail allows you to directly download your emails onto your computer using your normal email program just like how you receive your ISP emails. The details on how to do this can be found in your Gmail account under Settings > Forwarding and POP > POP download.
