| 519599 | 2007-01-27 02:31:00 | Just received the Feb NZ PCW issue, with the trial version of Office 2007 on it. Does anyone know if it can co-exist alongside an earlier version of Office (2003), or does it "take over"? If I do decide to try it out, just out of curiosity, I am unlikely to be purchasing it at the end of the trial period, and want to be able to revert to my previous version. Can't find anything in the mag or the Microsoft/Trial software site to clarify this. And yes ... I realise I could just start an install and see what happens, but I thought someone might have already 'been there' and be able to provide an answer. | ticketyboo (11820) | ||
| 519600 | 2007-01-27 03:04:00 | It will "take over" Office 2003, so you will have to uninstall it and reinstall 2k3 once you've finished playing with the trial. | somebody (208) | ||

| 519603 | 2007-01-27 21:04:00 | Some info I found out last week at a Vista Roadshow... Starting from the beginning of Feb OEM manufacturers will have a new OPK for Office 2007 (OPK - OEM Pre-installation Kit) Microsoft wants every new PC sold with Windows XP, or more likely Vista, to have Office 2007 Pro pre-installed. It will be a 90 day trial and after that the customer will have the option of buying Office 2007 at the cheaper OEM price for another 30 days. Once that 30 days has passed if they still want to buy they will have to pay for full box product. It is going to be media-less meaning that if the customer decides to buy it they will have to make their own backup CDs of Office 2007 - It will be an option in the software somewhere. If they decide to buy it they have to go back to the original place of purchase and they will be given an activation key for whatever version they decide to purchase - basic, SBE, pro etc. |
