| 519528 | 2007-01-28 22:01:00 | Much as most of us don't see any need for Vista (nor do I) the fact is that all new PCs sold will soon all have it on them so in a year or so we will appear to be luddites stuck on XP ! Regards Digby Nothing wrong with being a "luddite" on WinXP Digby, infact it is probably a more sensible option at this stage until at least the end of the year. Anyway what's this thing about being "stuck" on XP? Anytime there is a heated OS debate every Windows user this side of the black stump gets up and defends/touts the features of WinXP. |

| 519531 | 2007-01-28 23:32:00 | I'll be getting it within a couple of months, Just for a change from XP. I have been mulling over the idea of buying a Mac for the last couple of weeks, But that thought gets cured everytime I visit the apple site and see what sort of overpriced-underspecced crap they have on offer. | Metla (12) | ||

Your a hard one to please there Metla. I am just wating to see what happens to the specs and prices of all new Vista capable machines, will they go up in price or will they stay the same. |

| 519535 | 2007-01-28 23:52:00 | Im easy to please, Hard to fool. Hardware prices wont change, They are currently sold for next to no markup, that will continue. Unless your refering to the "big brand" machines, in which case...who cares?, Your getting ripped off when you buy one no matter what. |

| 519536 | 2007-01-29 00:04:00 | I am waiting to see what sort of markup the likes of HP, Dell, Asus and the rest actually start to put on their hardware because if you look at one of the basic rules of business which is that of making a profit on the product you sell, how do you make a profit on a product your selling when you don't put any mark up on it, and, if your not making any profit on the product how do you continue to operate if your only breaking even- well you can operate but you won't be making a profit. Unless any accountants out there want to tell me otherwise.... Dell is currently hurting in the hardware manufacturing department because their profit margins are so slim. That and the fact that HP continues to sell more PCs www.businessweek.com |

I believe that was the same opinion Micheal Dell had when he first founded Dell Inc- That he could assemble a computer for cheaper than Apple was at the time after he pulled apart an AppleII (I think it was) in his dorm room and inspected the parts. |
