520273 2007-02-04 03:26:00 I haven't received mine for this month yet! :( CYaBro (73)
520274 2007-02-04 04:41:00 I hope you don't mind if I muddy the waters just a trifle. Let's just say I have a loose sort of connection with NZ Post and have legal access to a mail sorting office. On a number of occasions I/we have spotted mail destined for us and assumed it would be delivered the following day-wrong! It has often been delivered up to 5 days later-excluding week-ends!! No, we don't rummage through the mail, we know which box our mail goes into and our it's often on the top as we are last in the road (semi-rural I must admit). In Ali's case he is in a busy suburb but I would suspect NZ Post could well be one source of the problem.
I believe, if memory serves me correct, that with 2nd class mail there was a belief (touted by NZ Post some years ago) that you would receive the mail within 2 working days and with 1st class you would receive it the next day-wrong again! Anyone looked at the senders date on their mail recently? We have had mail delivered 2nd class with a postmark over seven (7) days prior which we have seen in the box the previous evening-and coming all of 28 kilometres from the sender. I know for a fact that (in our neck of the woods at least) mail can be "saved" until convenient to be delivered along with the other odds and sods, like junk mail. It can make things problematic if you are expecting urgent mail-but most of my urgent mail consists of bills.
Regards Gordon.

520275 2007-02-04 04:59:00 I haven't received one this month either..... though I did let the sub lapse a couple of months ago. Gives me a reason to spend longer in the bookshop browsing. Scouse (83)
520276 2007-02-04 12:12:00 Sometimes mine arrives before they have it down the road at the Woolworths a day or two before the new month, other times I dont get mine until a few days into the month. Personally IMO, its a magazine (Not life-saving medication), Its being delivered to your doorstep for cheaper than you would pay if you had to get off your ass and go collect it yourself.

THEN you go and accuse Jen, somebody who's just spent time of her own looking up details to assist you in any way possible, of being non-supportive... simply because you 'thought' her 'tone' was bad??????? Whats up with that?

AFAIK they ALL get shipped out at the same time to all consumers and corporates alike.

Seriously bro, I doubt that PCWorld hold your mag just to piss you off, they have much better things to be doing with their time than deliberately delaying the delivery for one or two helpless people.
Really, what would you suggest for a resolution? How should FairfaxBM fix this for you? Should they be to blame for the postal delays? Have you taken the matter up with NZPost? What would you do if you were in their shoes? Am I being to harsh here of a problem that really is quite serious?

Personally I blame the post, but with the attitude you've expressed thus far, I doubt you want to hear that.

If you want it so early, dont bother subscribing, walk to the nearest dairy each month and buy it from them perhaps? You said they consistently have it earlier than you...

And no, Im not 'affiliated' as such with FairfaxBM, I just volunteer my time to moderate their forums.

520277 2007-02-05 03:26:00 On the subject of when it arrives in the store. I used to pop round the corner to the dairy every 1st of the month to pick up my copy. Without fail it was always there until one day I saw a sign in the window declaring that "this is a pornography free shop" They never stocked PC World from that day.
:horrified Go figure.

520278 2007-02-05 05:12:00 OK everyone here is the official line from our subs department on delivery dates to clear up any confusion:

"Baring the occasional public holiday (e.g. Auckland Anniversary Day) PC World issue dates are always the closest Monday to the start of any given month. Shipment from our printers in Christchurch to our distributors in Auckland is always on the preceding Friday and the mail lodgements for subscriber copies are made the same day with the intention of delivery as close as possible to the same time that the magazine appears in the shops. There is no commitment from us for subscribers to receive their copies ahead of retail distribution and, in fact, delivery times are dependent on NZ Post's performance. Various factors may influence the situation. Our distributors have now introduced Sunday deliveries in the Auckland area. Their intention is to make it easier for the retail outlets to prepare their shelves for Monday but some in fact have the magazine out on Sunday ahead of the issue date. Auckland subscriber copies arrived very late in the Auckland area this month - so obviously their system's can be adversely affected by the occasional day off! The key reasons to subscribe are, of course, that:

Guaranteed delivery free of postal charge anywhere in NZ, normally same day as issue date.

Save 18% against the cost of buying individual copies from newsstands.

Save an additional 10% by electing to use auto-renewal.

All new or renewing subscribers receive a free gift - something different every month.

Automatic entry in newsstand prize draws (except exceptional circumstances e.g. the Microsoft $200K give-away in Feb PCW)"

520279 2007-02-05 05:23:00 Well, that sounds very fair to me... until the dairy down the road starts doing lap dances and scalp massages.

Jack- maybe it was the sight of those sexy computers on the cover... or maybe the 'sealed section with CD' that you had to collect from behind the counter :horrified

520281 2007-02-05 06:40:00 I didn't know that "the occasional public holiday" could be bared, but it sounds good to me! Greg (193)
520282 2007-02-05 08:08:00 Yes I thought the "hook"to subscribing ~ was to take advantage of a canny price. Nothing bout getting a few days early. No-one can guarantee that 100% Baldy (26)
