519511 2007-01-28 00:01:00 What I mean't was, are there any things you can do with Vista that you can't do with XP......... Half the time its just upgrading for the sake of it

I use XP ~ but only use it because it came with my new PC.......... I was very happy to use WinME and there are bugger all things that I can do now that I couldn't with WinME

Maybe I'm a stick in the mud

I got my copy of NZ PC Mag today which is ALL VISTA, judging by the reviews of what gets shipped with Vista - Windows movie maker, photo organiser thingy, Windows Media player etc they have all been improved and simplified compared to XP. According to the reports of Office 2007 vs 2003 nothing new has actually been added, the GUI has been improved and most of the stuff that was already there but couldn't be found in Office 2003 has been brought to the front in Office 2007 - in other words they got it right 2nd time round.

Your not a stick in the mud Baldy.

519512 2007-01-28 05:46:00 Not really, but things will be more polished and/or easier in Vista.

You can do anything (except games) Vista can do & more in most modern Linux distros, it just requires a lot more effort. If all you are interested in is features over & above XP, you should switch to linux :D

The only effort you need to really put into Linux is when you're first setting up your machine/GUI/settings. After that it's simple, much simpler than Windows.

519513 2007-01-28 05:58:00 I can do pretty much anything with XP Sweep. Yes, even send emails AND post on here. I'M NOT A COMPLETE DUMMY

I think I was trying to say that IS THERE ANYTHING I can't do with XP that I WILL BE ABLE TO DO with Vista

I am not a complete idiot either. Several idiot parts appear to be missing therefore I am not complete. I never suggested you were a dummy either.

There appears (to me) a difference between what you DID say and what you TRIED to say. The main thing is the word UNABLE in the original post.

Just reading some of the very thorough comments in NZ PC world about Vista, and it would seem that overall, Microsoft has tried to copy and complicate the very simple "improved" features such as the UAC and other numerous features multimedia within Vista noted by the many references in the article. I guess you could say though that they have improved the GUI. I guess I will find out on Tuesday or Wednesday when I check out Vista in Noel Leemings or Bond and Bond.

519515 2007-01-28 07:31:00 You go ahead and check vista out next week, but i bet you will end up shelling out $348 for the vista home premium edition 32 bit, cause the salesman will talk you into it, noel leeming are well known for doing that. Hitech (9024)

That would be a pretty incredible sales guy to do that Hitech, and from what I have seen in both Bond and Bond and Noel Leeming, they are good but not that good.

519517 2007-01-28 07:55:00 And final word from those people..........

Most Windows users won't make that choice, however. For most of us, resistance is futile - and unnecessary and undesirable. Windows Vista is a truly great version of Windows with enormous benefits and will be a lot of fun to use.

Oh joy,can't wait.
