519498 2007-01-27 20:00:00 I think you got the wrong end of the stick mate. He was saying the same thing as you.

<What a load of Bollox!

I mean, by using Vista, will I be able to send emails, surf the net etc, that I was unable to do so with XP?

After doing a compatiability test I wouldn't touch Vista with a barge pole>

Not really Greg.

Please take a moment to read and comprehend.

Baldy mentions in the above that He/She ( to be PC ) was UNABLE to send emails, surf the net etc with XP.

So I can't help wondering what Baldy uses as an operating system now? He/She is UNABLE to use XP (whatever version) to send emails, surf the net etc

He/She and I agree that we will not be shopping for Vista in the near future.

519499 2007-01-27 20:02:00 I would be interested to know if people are as excited about Vista coming out as they were about either Xbox or XP being released since Vista has been in development for over 5 years.

I am more excited about my next coffee fix.

519501 2007-01-27 21:41:00 I use WinXPsp2. I can send email and surf the Internet. Why you could not is your problem!

I am not going to buy Vista anytime soon.

So what O/S do you use now?

What I mean't was, are there any things you can do with Vista that you can't do with XP......... Half the time its just upgrading for the sake of it

I use XP ~ but only use it because it came with my new PC.......... I was very happy to use WinME and there are bugger all things that I can do now that I couldn't with WinME

Maybe I'm a stick in the mud

People have been talking about it for long enough, but I haven't come accross anyone "excited"........ apart from the retailers

I can do pretty much anything with XP Sweep. Yes, even send emails AND post on here. I'M NOT A COMPLETE DUMMY

I think I was trying to say that IS THERE ANYTHING I can't do with XP that I WILL BE ABLE TO DO with Vista

Not really, but things will be more polished and/or easier in Vista.

You can do anything (except games) Vista can do & more in most modern Linux distros, it just requires a lot more effort. If all you are interested in is features over & above XP, you should switch to linux :D

519507 2007-01-27 22:51:00 those reasons probably came about when xp was new and upgrading from 98 or me

But the difference now is that XP suits most people (99%?) just fine. Win98 was unstable and cr*p for graphics.
