You should be looking at around US$10-12 per year for a .com/.net/.org and around $60-70 for a .nz domain. $70 a year? I get all mine through Orcon, $32+GST a year .. and there's this other place that Ive had a couple of customers use, they do $24.95 on Tuesdays for .nz domains :) |

| 727909 | 2008-12-11 23:38:00 | Really? Having a website isn't an automatic money generator. I use Kiwiwebhost. Not the cheapest around but they are in NZ. And the servers are in NZ. And I have never had any major issues and customer service is great. Thats my criteria before price. My client was with them, but they had too much downtime, and their website was continually going offline so I switched them to my own provider. If you look at their status page you can see how much downtime they have kiwiwebhost.co.nz You have to wonder why they also don't update the outdated look of their website. |

They have been around for a while now too which is encouraging. They have Cpanel but if you want or need other stats then there are plenty of scripts out there that can generate those for you. |

| 727912 | 2008-12-12 20:47:00 | Thanks, I really don't know anything about all of the control panels in them, I just want one that can give me some good features, space, bandwidth, and works. Soooo many choices, very hard to choose. Just wondering, why is it cheaper to get a .com rather than a .co.nz? Doesn't make a whole lot of sense, would it be because then it is run overseas? Oh and would every hosting option allow me to run some flashy things on my page, such as flash documents, streaming videos etc? Or is that specific to some providers? Thanks |

| 727913 | 2008-12-12 20:52:00 | There's a (really) good free host called x10Hosting. I'm with them, and they're awesome, offering the services of a paid host. :D The catch is that you have to visit their forums at least once a fortnight to keep your account active. Flash and streaming videos are allowed by most hosts. :) |

| 727914 | 2008-12-14 01:42:00 | I have 3 web sites hosted with 'Utopia'. I have dealt with them for at least 10 years. They are 100% reliable, very helpful and keep good backups. I suggest that you go to 'Utopia' & buy a Domain before someone else gets your name. You can Park the Domain with 'Utopia' free of charge until you set up your site. Don't go to the cheapest, if you pay for peanuts you will get a Monkey! |
